St Peter's 13-18
Makerspace is a place in which people with shared interests in Design and Technology can gather to work on projects while sharing ideas, equipment and knowledge. It is an excellent addition to our huge co-curricular programme, giving pupils the opportunity to develop new interests and acquire the skills they need to stand out in a fast-changing world.
At Makerspace, pupils work with new and exciting materials and components and meet with like-minded, creative and inquisitive people. The club is accessible to all, including staff, so there really is something for everyone.
Activities include Jesmonite Casting, Mask Making, Birdhouses, Laser Cut Christmas Decorations,Tensegrity Towers, 3D Printed Stamp Embossed personalised bookmarks and Wearable Electronics.
The club is also open to pupils who wish to pursue their own interests. Pupils often use the Makerspace Studio to work towards their F1 in Schools Competition Entries or make use of our C.A.D/C.A.M facilities in support of their Arkwright Scholarship Projects.
Pupils can commit to regular sessions or sign up to a particular project. Makerspace sessions take place twice a week in the Design and Technology Department after school, with each week's content being communicated via email to pupils.
