St Peter’s welcomed performance nutritionist Ed Tooley to school on Friday, September 19th as part of our Lessons for Life programme. Speaking to pupils in Years 9 and 10, Ed began by outlining his journey to where he is today, going from doing an extra year in College and switching degrees halfway through university to working his way into the professional position he is in now.
He drew on his experience working with elite athletes in sports such as rugby, football, and boxing to highlight the importance of nutrition in both health and performance, and hopefully inspire pupils to take it to heart as they go through school and life in the future. Pupils enjoyed learning about how much their food choices can be reflected in athletic and academic performances, an important topic at a busy and sport-focused school like St Peter's.
He encouraged students to think critically about what they eat and drink, as well as their lifestyle habits. Ed described how small, sustainable changes can have a big impact on wellbeing. The session gave pupils a valuable opportunity to learn practical skills from a professional in the field, helping them to build positive foundations for years to come.
