St Peter’s School has submitted a planning application for an exciting new development: a Multi‑Use Games Area (MUGA) designed to significantly enhance outdoor sports and play opportunities for pupils.
The proposed facility will feature a green synthetic turf pitch, complete with 5‑a‑side football, tennis, and netball markings. It will be enclosed by 3‑metre‑high green mesh fencing with kick boards, and will include built‑in goal recesses and basketball hoops. Additional landscaping, including tree and shrub planting to match the existing cricket nets area, is also planned. Access will be provided via the current tarmac pathway.
The MUGA is intended for use during school hours, offering a reliable, all‑weather space for lessons and break‑time play throughout the year. This development marks a positive step forward for St Peter’s, supporting the school’s long‑term commitment to providing high‑quality facilities for all pupils. By creating a dependable, year‑round surface, the MUGA will help expand and strengthen the school’s co‑curricular programme, enabling a wider range of sports and activities to take place regardless of weather conditions. It will also ease pressure on existing grassed areas, ensuring more pupils can participate actively and safely throughout the school day.
If approved, construction is scheduled for summer 2026, with the aim of opening the facility in time for the new school term in September 2026.
