About Us 

Our Community

Information for all parents

Each section of the school maintains regular communications with parents, including reports and updates on your child's progress. In many cases you will need a username and password to access these updates, and a letter and/or email will be sent to you at the beginning of the academic year giving you this information.

School Website

The school website is an increasingly important part of the school’s communication platform and contains information that is useful for current parents including the latest school news.

The website has up-to-date information including term dates and the calendar of events, which is live on the website and is therefore the most current information. The website also has specific information for each section of the school.

Critical Incidents

In addition the website has a Critical Incident function. Critical Incident notices would appear on the home page of the website to keep the school community updated on any major problem or incident at the school.

Texting

The School uses a texting service from time to time for last minute changes to plan for trips etc and this will come up as JANETxt on your mobile, not the name of the school. It is important therefore we know which mobile number should be used as priority and we need to be notified if you change your number.

Newsletters

A weekly newsletter is sent to parents on Fridays during term-time, with a summary of the latest news and events including sports results. If you would like to be added to the newsletter mailing list, please contact [email protected]

If your child is absent, please let us know as early as you can.  Notification by email is preferred where possible.

You will be asked to indicate which photography permission level you prefer for your child as part of the joining form you fill in prior to their starting. 

Photography Permission Levels

We will take all reasonable measures to ensure the images are used solely for the purposes for which they are intended. However, we cannot guarantee this and take no responsibility for the way images are used by other websites or publishers or for any consequences arising from publication. 

  • Images will be carefully and sensitively chosen and will not be used out of context
  • Images may become part of the school’s historical archive
  • Pupils will not be identified by full name in any photographs used outside the school premises
  • We will only use images of pupils who are suitably dressed
  • If we wish to use images or film of your child in a specific, targeted campaign, we will contact you for separate consent.
  • Please write to/ email the school if you wish to withdraw consent at any time at [email protected]

Our Keeping Children Safe Online guide provides parents with information on internet safety for their children. There are some tips that should always be kept in mind when online:

  • Statuses or images posted online can be viewed by many people; never post pictures of yourself or your friends online that you wouldn’t show your parents or grandparents.
  • Make sure your user settings are set to ‘private’ so only your real friends can connect with you.
  • Make sure you know who is on your friends list.
  • Report any online abuse and offensive messages.

An important aspect of a young person’s education is the development of responsible, considerate and independent use of computer facilities and online communications and resources. Computers and Internet access are provided for pupils to do work, conduct research and communicate with others, both in the context of lessons and in their free times. Access to the facilities is a privilege, not a right, and that access carries responsibility.

Mrs Deri-Clark co-ordinates after school care supported by Mrs Pennels.

To enable us to plan for After School Care we ask that you complete the Collection Arrangements Form indicating that you intend to collect your child at 3.20pm. You can edit this form throughout the year. If you are using Before School Care please bring your child to the gate located close to the dining room where a member of staff will be waiting to greet you and sign your child in from 07.45am.

Boarding 

Information for St Peter's 8-13 parents

For St Peter's 8-13 pupils, requests for time away from school for a planned event should be in writing to your child's House Tutor, giving as much notice as possible. Requests for more than a one day absence should be made directly to Mr Falconer.

Boarding 

Information for St Peter's 13-18 parents

Daily life varies for our pupils as they progress through the school, and the activities and clubs that they join will also demand varying amounts of time.  However, some elements of the school day remain the same for everyone.

Registration

Day pupils should be in School by 8.20am in time for House registration which is completed by 8.30am.

Chapel and Assembly

All pupils attend Chapel on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday mornings at 8.35am, and Assembly on Friday mornings in the Memorial Hall.

Lessons start at 9.00am, and pupils have a break at 11.00am, followed by lunch at 12.40pm.

Games and Activities

All pupils are committed to the games/activities programme. On Wednesdays and Saturdays there is a 4.00pm finish, unless they are involved in a match. On other days of the week 5.30pm is often the normal finishing time.

Tutors and House Meetings

Tutor Groups take place 3 times per week. House meetings happen on Thursday mornings at 8.35am. 

Pupils at St Peter’s are expected to demonstrate good manners, common sense, honesty and consideration for others at all times. The acceptance and observation of school rules and guidelines is a fundamental part of membership of the school.

School Rules and Guidelines

Each year group has a parents’ meeting during the year where you will have an opportunity to meet individual subject teachers to discuss your son/daughter’s progress. You will be notified of the dates of these meetings and your son/daughter will make appointment times for you.

Your child will be regularly monitored either through an end of term report or an interim report, both of which are placed in a secure area for you to access in the parent portal. You will be notified of your login details during your son/daughter’s first term at school.

The end of term reports are fuller in their content than the interim reports which are designed to give you and your son/daughter’s Tutor and Housemaster/mistress regular updates on their progress.

For Third and Fourth Form, interim reports give effort grades: E = Excellent, G = Good, S = Satisfactory, C = Concern, U = Unsatisfactory and a brief comment from subject teachers and Pastoral Tutor.  For those in the Fifth and Sixth Forms, an attainment grade is also given.

Through this frequent monitoring of your son/daughter’s progress any problems which occur will be picked up at an early stage. The Academic Deputy is Mr Duncan Gillies, who is in charge of all academic matters.

It is expected that pupils will honour their School commitments. However, if there is a forthcoming event for which permission for absence is sought, parents must write in the first instance to the Housemaster/mistress who may in turn pass on the request to the Head Master. Any requests for absence should be made as far in advance as possible.
